Testimonials from 2006 Drive Less Denver participants:
What did you like?
- "Seeing the results of using alternative modes of transportation and learning how little I need to drive."
- "The freedom of riding a bike."
- "The challenge of finding ways to get to places…"
- "The personal challenge"
- "It was healthy for me, for the environment, and who doesn't love free stuff?"
- "Encouragement to get out and walk more."
- "I liked that the program made me consider my commuting choices. Once I got used to using my bike for small errands I realized that it is more efficient and in most cases more pleasant than driving."
- "Meeting new people on the bus."
- "Receiving a bus pass helped quite a lot as an incentive not to use normal means of transportation and to realize that public transit can get you *almost* anywhere within the metro area."
- "Keeping track of our trips helped us to think twice about whether it really was necessary to drive."
- "I enjoyed being able to read and listen to music while riding the bus--I almost never have time for those two things. I also appreciated that NOT having my car forced me to be more organized--time management, how much stuff I took to work, and finding creative ways to get errands done."

Comments from the OneLessCar Houston Challenge:
- "The ease I am having utilizing METRO to get to/from work has made me and my wife seriously consider going "full time" with the One Less Car idea. I am pursuing the "downgrading" of my primary vehicle to a very economical, used sedan that I would use only on days when I have off-site meetings to attend that are very difficult to reach without a personal vehicle. I could adjust my auto insurance to reflect a much less expensive vehicle, not used for primary commuting, and calculate the savings vs. the cost of monthly METRO transportation costs. This One Less Car Challenge has afforded me an opportunity to try things out without incurring new costs on my personal budget. Thank you very much for the opportunity."
- "When I told friends and co-workers I was forsaking my other car and using a bike to run short errands, they were speechless. After all, nobody rides a bike in Houston unless it's at Memorial Park. and walking? Forget it. Many streets do not have sidewalks, so I have to walk in the street or on the grass (and other people's yards) when walking. One benefit after only 1 week of this experiment-I've lost 2 pounds between the bike riding and walking."
